Sustainability

OUR MISSION

The Orion Amphitheater aims to create unforgettable experiences with a positive impact on the environment through innovative sustainable practices, thus inspiring our community to join us in the pursuit of a greener future.

THE PATH TO ZERO WASTE

Through our partnership with ReWorld, an industry leader in sustainable waste solutions, we proudly send zero waste to landfill by using ReWorld’s waste-to-energy facility in Huntsville. The Orion is a zero single-use plastic campus and implements industry leading sustainability practices, like a maximized recycling program and reusable cups, that minimize our ecological footprint across all operations. Our team is committed to being environmentally responsible, carefully curating policies around waste management and sustainable product standards with the support of local and global conservation organizations like Tennessee River Keeper and Oceana.

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

Dedication to sustainability and hospitality converge in our Artist Garden, an accessible food garden featuring thirteen beautifully-crafted cedar raised beds of fresh herbs, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and native plant species. From meals cooked on-site for artists and crews during their Rocket City stay, to cocktails served at our bars and dishes crafted by Chef Josh at our brick-and-mortar offering, Odette at The Orion, we make use of our Garden’s harvest at every touchpoint possible. Over 465 lbs of produce have been grown since raising our Garden beds with support from local nursery EarthTouch, allowing chemical-free cultivation and reducing carbon emissions by eliminating transport.

ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY

The growth of our sustainability programs and missions wouldn’t be possible without support from partners like Earthtouch, Tennessee Riverkeeper and Patagonia. By joining forces with community leaders championing environmental causes, we’re able to create more opportunities for hands-on learning and involvement, such as gardening workshops for beginners and Master Gardeners alike. But our commitment to being a good neighbor expands beyond campus borders. Through volunteer efforts like Tennessee River Keeper’s Clean Up program and joint initiatives with the City of Huntsville to reduce carbon emissions by providing a downtown shuttle to our events, we’re able to set new standards for sustainable practices in the live entertainment industry.
